Strings Day Camp 2008 Summer Session

Ages: Students entering 5th through 8th grades, some music reading required

Prelude Strings Day Camp is designed to give young performers an exciting experience in shared music-making and skill development. The inclusion of drama and a variety of musical styles will add a rich balance to the "playful work" of chamber music sessions. An outstanding feature of this camp experience will be the opportunity for young players to play in a small chamber orchestra, with violins, violas, and cellos.
How to Apply
Strings Day Camp offers a one-week session for commuters (no overnight stays). The daily offerings include chamber orchestra, singing, drama, Celtic & American fiddling (including cellists!), and a bit of contemporary-style music. Significant breaks for snacks, foosball, and swimming.
Master Classes, Concerts & Recitals: The students and their families are invited to attend the master classes and concerts listed on this site which are part of the 3-week residential Prelude Music Academy 2008 Summer Session.
Final Concert: August 9th, 10:00 a.m. at the Overture Center. The Day Campers will be included in the final concert, along with the Prelude Music Academy 3-week resident campers.
Tuition: $400 ($50 non-refundable deposit at the time of application, balance of $350 payable by April 27, 2008).
