Teri Forscher - Flute

Teri Forscher pursued her flute studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Indiana University, and the Interlochen Arts Academy.

During her studies in high school at Interlochen Arts Academy, Forscher was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. Following a performance at the Kennedy Center for the Arts, President Clinton awarded Forscher for her talents in a ceremony at the White House.  She was then invited by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts to return to Washington D.C. to perform a recital for their annual banquet and meeting.  

At the young age of nineteen, Forscher was named second flutist and piccoloist for the American Sinfonietta and played with the orchestra for six years.  In 2001, she played with the American Sinfonietta on a European Tour.  In 1999, Forscher was named principal flutist of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Forscher has also performed with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Charleston Symphony, and the Columbus Symphony. 

Forscher’s teachers include Joshua Smith, Christina Smith, Warren Little, Thomas Robertello, Tyra Gilb, and Harold Sharp.  She has played under such renowned conductors as Robert Shaw, Robert Spano, Leonard Slatkin, Louis Lane, Alan Gilbert, Michael Morgan, and Michael Palmer. 

During the years of 1993-2000, Forscher attended the Round Top Institute, Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Blossom Music Festival. She received the 1 st prize from the Arts Recognition and Talent Search Competition, Blossom Festival’s Maurice Sharp Flute Award, and the Interlochen Arts Academy Fine Arts Award.  As a founding member of the Juniper Wind Quintet, she won second prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

Forscher has served on the faculty at UW-Waukesha, Madison School of Music, UW-Whitewater High School Flute Camp, Atlanta Music Academy, Marietta Music Academy, and The Lovett School in Atlanta. As a chamber music coach, she has worked with students in the Wisconsin Youth Orchestra and the Knoxville Youth Orchestra. Presently, she teaches 40 private students each week in her home in Madison, WI, and the Hartland Conservatory of Music in Hartland, WI.
