Bonnie Greene - Prelude Music Academy Strings Day Camp
Ms. Greene, violinist, has enjoyed a long and varied career as performer, teacher, composer, and arranger. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky, majoring in violin and organ, with extensive graduate work at UW-Madison and IU Bloomington.† She has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and as concert-mistress of both the Bach Chamber Orchestra, and the Milwaukee Civic Symphony.
For 20 years she was active in the Milwaukee area as a free-lance violinist and teacher, in both private and public schools. She founded and directed a community orchestra for young people. Maintaining a lifetime interest in various musical styles, she has written music for young string players and student orchestras, using classical, world-folk, and jazz idioms. Greene maintains a private studio for violin and viola in Madison WI.
She is the current recipient of major grants from the Madison Community Foundation, The Fund for Children, and the Pleasant Rowland Foundation to fund a Music Makers, a new project in Madison. †This community music school project sponsors quality strings instruction in local community centers, reaching low-income students.
