Dawn Lawler - Flute
A native of Wisconsin, Dawn Lawler received her Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Music in flute performance from Boston University. Dawn’s orchestral experience includes playing with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Brockton Symphony, the New England Philharmonic, the Hingham Symphony, and the Texas Festival Orchestra, among others. She has also toured throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe, and Japan, both as an orchestral musician and as the flutist for the Latin American group Sotavento. Dawn was a semifinalist in the 2006 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, as well as the second prizewinner of the 2004 James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition in Boston. She currently performs with cellist Sara Sitzer as one half of the Arboretum Duo, and is a faculty member of Monroe Street Fine Arts Center, Prelude Music Academy, and Arboretum Music School, in addition to teaching a private flute studio. Dawn is thrilled to be in her current position as an Artist in Residence with the Wingra Woodwind Quintet at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
